About the Position

A 52-meter, US-flagged private yacht based in Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced, self-directed Sous Chef to join an 11-person professional crew. The owners are based in Lauderdale — the Sous Chef may live aboard at 15th Street Fisheries or commute from home.

The vessel will travel to New England for approximately 2½ months this summer, with potential Caribbean itineraries planned for winter.

Primary Duties

  • Cook daily meals for the 11-person crew
  • Assist the Head Chef with provisioning and meal preparation for owners and guests
  • Manage vessel provisions — ensure the galley is fully stocked at all times
  • Execute all prep work so the galley is fully operational when the Head Chef returns with principals on board
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professionally run galley to the highest standard
Note: The Head Chef travels with the owner. When the Head Chef is away, the Sous Chef is responsible for galley operations and crew feeding — ownership and initiative are essential.

What We're Looking For

  • Diverse culinary skill set — comfortable with crew comfort food through refined cuisine
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented in all aspects of galley management
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take full ownership of the galley
  • Clean, professional work ethic with high personal standards

Qualifications

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) — required
  • Prior yacht experience preferred but not required
  • Candidates without yacht experience must have strong restaurant or hotel culinary experience and formal culinary training
  • Available for in-person interviews in Fort Lauderdale
